ARTIST BIO

Anna Somerville is an award-winning contemporary painter based in Edinburgh, working from her studio at Summerhall. Her practice explores memory, perception and psychological landscape through layered abstraction.

Working primarily with acrylic, ink and oil on panel and linen, she is interested in how meaning emerges through material process, creating works that hold multiple temporal and perceptual states.

Somerville graduated with a BA (Hons) in Drawing & Painting from Edinburgh College of Art in 2000. She is represented by &Gallery, Edinburgh, and has exhibited widely in solo and group exhibitions. Her work is held in private and corporate collections.
